Party Fortnight!

26/09/2008 17:45
Our new bar will be with us soon, handmade from solid oak by local craftsmen. Oh how excited we are. Becuase of our excitment we thought we would throw a series of fun nights together to celebrate. It's best to do it before we get our new carpet, after that no-one is allowed in! (I jest). So, here...

Last Of The Summer Whines

05/09/2008 09:53
Our glorious summer is nearly over, the local House Martins are gathering together for a final swoop, the starlings are flocking, they are all getting ready to make like a banana and split. I know, I know but it is sad. The whole summer has been a bit of a let down and now that the leaves are...

A Big Thank You!

05/09/2008 09:38
This is a big thanks to everyone who attended the recent Community Association Craft Fayre and Family Fun Day. The event was a success raising just shy of £800 for the association and the rain kept away, Huzzah! Also thanks must go to all those who helped out on the day, it was a real team...

03/09/2008 21:53
Having a leek club is as strong a tradition in the North of England as dancing a merry jig is in Scotland on Hogmany. We have our own leek club and we have our show this September, on the 14th! For those of you who do not know what it's all about it is where the local growers all meet to show off...

Brassed Off. On The Grass!

02/08/2008 00:20
Brass On The Grass This event is pre-cursored by an open garden event earlier in the day...more news on that later. Brass On The Grass is something I really wish I could attend, there is a chance I might still be able to. This promises to be the epitomy of semi-rural middle classness. If...

Golf Day

30/07/2008 15:16
Our annual golf day was a success with 56 entrants.  Three people scored 40 points with Micky Price taking 1st place having a better back nine. Jean Attle was the leading lady player scoring 37 points. Peter Blenkinsopp was last as usual (is threatening to never play again)

Belly Pork and Crackling

24/07/2008 22:05
Looks like Belly Pork is a big favourite at the minute. Tonight we had the usual mixed bag on the board here at the Joiners in Hunwick. However that said the big seller was the Belly Pork with Crackling. It seems like people have cottoned onto the fact that this is a really tasty and moist bit of...

Craft Fayre and Family Fun Day

23/07/2008 15:38
Hunwick Community Association is holding a Family Fun Day at the Community Centre between 12noon and 4pm on Saturday the 30th of August. Sounds to us like there will be a lot happening for all the family to try. There'll be Card Stalls, Minature Dolls, Flower Arranging, Penalty Shoot Out, Tri Golf,...

Visitors notice

23/07/2008 12:13
Refurbishment works are ongoing but so far this has had little effect on the general ambience and geniality of the pub. We will soon have our much needed new windows fitted, wood like they always have been and then there is still a new bar, carpet and walls to complete. When will it be finished?...
